Susanville,CA (6/30/2020) After 9 months away from the track, Reno based Pro Stock team Travis Petersen Racing with driver Jay Sears finally made their first start of the season Saturday night at Susanville’s Diamond Mountain Speedway.
The race marked the 4th event of the 2020 Tri State Pro Stock Challenge slate, a series the team has only competed with once in the past.
With practically everything on the car being new, team owner Travis Petersen knew that Saturday’s event would probably feature a few hiccups along the way, so Petersen wasn’t too disappointed with the night ending early for a brake issue.
The night kicked off with heat race action, where Sears rolled off last in the 7 car field. Sears quickly moved into 5th on the opening lap, but would slide back to 6th a lap later as he battled handling issues.
Sears’s heat race would ultimately come to an early end as he spun to a stop in Turn 4.
Starting 12th in the 17 car feature, Sears found himself in the Top 10 early after an impressive 3 car pass.
Unfortunately for Sears, his strong run would come to an end just a couple laps later, as he pulled into the pits under caution for both a flat tire and a loss of brakes.
