Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway brought many challenges to young Pure Stock driver Jesse Bryant. With constantly changing weather conditions causing many drivers to lose a handle on their cars, the 13 year old racer had a tough test ahead of him in his hunt for the Placerville Speedway Pure Stock Rookie of the Year award.

Bryant would start 4th in his heat race. Unfortunately for Bryant, his car was set up a bit too tight for the track’s dry surface, leaving him wrestling the car for the entirety of the 8 lap heat race, where he’d finish 7th out of 8 starters.

Just as the drivers were getting set for the main event, a brief rain shower hit, completely changing the track surface. Bryant would roll off 16th in the 16 car main event, leaving him with nowhere to go but forward.

Though Bryant wasn’t able to move forward much in the early portion of the race, the aforementioned track surface changes came into play in the middle portion of the race, as multiple drivers lost control of their cars and wrecked out of the race.

Through all the chaos and carnage, Bryant was able to avoid it all and move up to 12th. One of the drivers who exited early was Bryant’s biggest hurdle in the Rookie of the Year standings, so he would be guaranteed to at least gain a few points.

Over the last few laps, Bryant would briefly challenge for 11th, but would ultimately settle for a 12th place finish. It was overall a solid night for the rookie racer, surviving everything thrown his way over the duration of the night, and bringing the car home in one piece.

Jesse will return to action next Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

Jesse would like to thank all of his sponsors and supporters, including:
